The value of a meal ticket increases from 9.35 to 9.41 lei according to the Order of the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Protection and the Elderly no. 1069/2015, having the aim of establishing the nominal value of a meal ticket for the first semester of 2015 year, published on 28th of May in the Official Gazette no. 374, Part I.
Extract from the normative act:
For the first semester of 2015 starting in May, the nominal value of a meal ticket, determined according to art. 31 of the Implementing Rules of the Law no. 142/1998 regarding meal vouchers grant, approved by Government Decision no. 23/2015, of Government Emergency Ordinance no. 59/2005 regarding certain financial and tax measures for implementing the Law no. 348/2004 on domestic currency redenomination, approved with amendments by Law no. 15/2006, with subsequent completions, and Law no. 142/1998 on granting of meal tickets, as amended and supplemented, is 9.41 lei. "
Last legislative changes were made to this topic in January 2015 by the publication of the implementing rules regarding 142/1998 law. News brought at that time:
Removal of the maximum number of meal tickets that can be used by an employee in a day;
Clarifying the connection between working time and the number of meal tickets.
Thus in the case of employees whose daily duration of the working time exceeds 8 hours (shift system) the number of days for which meal vouchers are granted is determined by: dividing the number of hours the employee was present at work to 8 hours (normal duration of the working time). Fractions resulting from the calculation is considered as the present day, provided the total does not exceed the number of days resulting workdays established under Regulations;
Regularization of the meal vouchers number granted during a month.
Where the employee had used in a month a number of meal vouchers higher than the number of days worked and the employer did not collect the equivalent of undue vouchers, the employer will grant for that employee next month: a number of meal vouchers equal to the number of working days, decreased the number of tickets awarded for the previous month in advance;
New aspects concerning the validity meal ticket
The principle is that the meal ticket is valid for the calendar year in which it was issued. The exception is the meal ticket issued in the period 1 November to 31 December, which can be used until 31 December of the following year;
The meal tickets are non-transferable
Meal tickets are nominal, they can not be transferred to another person and can not be used by anyone other than an employee whose name, surname and personal identification number printed on it.
