Obligatory amendment of commercial terms in Czech Republic
The entrepreneurs have a duty to amend their standard commercial terms by May 1st 2016. Also contracts and internet website must reflect the change as of February 1st 2016.
The purpose is to inform consumers about the option to settle disputes at the Czech Trade Inspection Authority (CTIA).
In case they fail to meet the deadline, they might face a fine in the amount of CZK 1.000.000.
Alternative dispute resolution via CTIA should by cheaper and faster. There are no fees for having a dispute solved, both parties bear their own costs. CTIA has only 90 day to resolve the dispute. However, the dispute might be initiated only by the consumer and he is also the only one who can terminate the dispute from his own will.
The limitation period is suspended during the existence of the dispute and consumer can file an action at the court at any time before the settlement of dispute in writing.
