During the past few years, Ukraine has become a reliable supplier of organic products in the EU, due to the quality of its products and competitiveness. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy assured that the work on further reduction of regulatory barriers for the import of Ukrainian organic products to the EU countries continues.
One of the stages of the export process is the passage of Ukrainian production checks before crossing the border and re-examination in the country of destination. Ukraine is one of 10 countries which, according to the European Commission’s decision, is checked in this manner. Unfortunately, because of that importers are losing time and money through more tests, and it negatively affects on the competitiveness of our products.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy considers that the creation of the full register of organic producers in Ukrainewill help to have a clear and transparent picture of the organic sector. It is also already known that the European partners are ready to launch a new electronic system of certification for the import of products. This should help to keep track of products in transit. It helps to create the transparency of trade and reduce the risks of fraud, as well as significantly reduce the level of costs for our regulatory authorities.
TheEuropean Commission´s decision regarding the transition to the electronic certification system is expected to enter into force within 6 months, and the launch is scheduled on April 2017.
Ukrainian business expects that European importers will be interested in investing in related infrastructure and logistics for the import of organic products from Ukraine.
It is known that organic foods are grown without the use of synthetic chemicals, fertilizers or GMOs. This new method of cultivation of agricultural products has been widely recognized as the advanced technology of the food products future production. –It is not just agriculture without chemicals, it is how the ingredients of the product were grown, produced, processed and packaged.
